Film Evaluation 3/7

3. What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?

We researched into different distributing companies for our film and the first thing we wanted was experience, so we immediately looked at well known horror films; "Psycho, Zombieland, Paranormal Activity" etc.

This was done so that we could use their experience in those genres to help advertise, promote and distribute our film. The two companies we came down to as a group where; Universal Studios and Columbia Pictures.

Universal being responsible for Shaun of the Dead and Columbia for distributing Zombieland, our two major inspirations for the making of this film.

These two companies have distributed a lot of films in these genres and could offer support if it was needed and would help us to promote our film to the right people. However, due to our film being underground, it is highly unlikely that we would get an offer from these studios. Local companies such as Warp would be a good choice as they would help us target a national audience and not just a select number of people.

However, the distribution of our film may have been done differently as we don't have the comical style in our film that say Shaun of the Dead has, therefore it could not be marketed in the exact same way, as that film would cater towards both horror and comedy audiences, while we would want to target the horror side of the viewer
