Film Evaluation 1/7

1.In what way does your media product us, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media productions?

Our film starts off with a chase scene in the beginning, we did this as we believe that it would create tension and make the viewer interested in the film straight away. The text is displayed in the lower corners of the screen so as to not draw attention away from the film but still be there to see. This is done in the film "Shaun of the Dead" as the opening titles are displayed in the corners of the screen. However, we felt that we didn't want to completely copy that style so we changed our fonts and how they are used in the film

We decided to use a linear progression for our film as it would be easier to follow, we thought that flashbacks would case a lot of confusion in a 2 minute opener. The main part of our film that shows its genre would be the "freak out" scene, the music and acting shows the themes of the film perfectly.

It is edited in a way that connects the film together without confusion, an example of this on our film would be where the camera is pulled back from 1 shot and flows seamlessly into a new scene.

This transition also works with the sound, as it starts off very abruptly, and then slowly fades into a more sinister and haunting type of sound to reflect the thriller side of our film.
